Binary Logic Gates Board — Laue Labs engineering pack

Binary Logic Gates Board

Build a keepable logic trainer on a laser-cut 3mm birch plywood faceplate: five toggle switches, three LEDs, and real 74HC08 / 74HC32 / 74HC04 chips teaching AND, OR, and NOT. Optional Arduino verifies truth tables over Serial.

Pack contents

  • Build guide: faceplate layout, gate wiring, pull-downs, LED current limits
  • SVG cut files for faceplate and stand
  • First principles: Boolean algebra, truth tables, voltage levels
  • Optional Arduino checker that reads the real gate outputs and grades all 10 truth-table rows
  • Verified BOM (~$20–47 hardware with your own Arduino; $28–67 buying a Uno)

Typical hardware cost

Default structure is laser-cut birch plywood with real fasteners and hobby electronics—honest BOM, not mystery modules.

  • ~$20–47 in typical parts with your own Arduino ($28–67 buying a Uno)
  • Digital pack price ≠ hardware

The $7 pack is the digital guide + cut files + BOM + lessons + code, plus printable Builder's Corner build journal pages. Hardware sourced separately — see Where to get kit materials.

Learning outcomes

  • Wire AND, OR, and NOT from switches and LEDs on a birch board
  • Fill and verify truth tables for each gate by hand
  • Explain LED current limiting and why CMOS inputs must never float
  • Optionally use Arduino as an automated truth-table checker
